1-12 July 2019: Phoenix International Summer School at University of Zagreb, HR

From 1 to 12 July 2019, join the eseia ISS 2019 and transform creative ideas into smart and innovative solutions in the energy sector. The scope is to find a novel approach to energy system integration and utilisation of non-conventional biomass through topics such as:

  • The integration of products and processes based on non-conventional bio-resources into buildings and smart cities,
  • The identification of optimal bio-fuel integration into sustainable mobility systems,
  • Policy and economic instruments for mobilising non-conventional bio-resources.

Additional focus will be given to the implementation of the research knowledge, including the creation of a successful EU funding proposal, project management best practices, and the development of International Strategic Partnerships.

The ISS 2019 in Zagreb will combine lectures with workshops, group tasks and supervised group work with consultations, presentation of ideas with feedback given from the lecturers, final presentation, site visits, and networking events. Groups will be expected among other tasks to design a project plan for developing a sustainable system for a smart city taking into account expansion and/or refurbishment of existing DH plant, utilisation of non-conventional biomass in heating and/or transport sector, etc. They will also prepare a sound Horizon 2020 project proposal on smart energy systems or similar.

Ph.D., master student or young professionals from the field of energy, process, electrical, environmental engineering or related studies are welcome to register for the event.

A draft programme of the ISS 2019 in Zagreb and the registration link will be available soon.
