BET - BioEnergyTrain
The H2020 funded BioEnergyTrain project is a 15 partner consortium composed by HEIs, Research Organisations, professional associations, and industry from the whole energy value-chain. Coordinated by eseia, the project has three defined main objectives:
- Developing two new master’s curricula in key bioenergy disciplines, namely the Bioenergy Engineer (BRE) and Bioresource Value Chain Management (BVM) and train 3.000 students;
- Linking business and HEIs on bioenergy education;
- Creating regional outreach networks and quality standards.
The BET project approaches potential partners and provide tailor-made educational offers with the aim to increase the involvement of industry in higher education and vocational training.
The two new BET Master programmes within TU Graz (AT) and the University of Twente (NL) have been developed within a network of tertiary education institutions, research centers, professional associations and industry stakeholders, encompassing the whole value-chain from field and forest to integration into the sustainable products and energy systems of buildings, settlements and regions.
A BET publication on Theory and Practice of European Co-operative Education and Training for the Support of Energy Transition is currently under review for publication in the eseia Springer Open Access Journal Energy, Sustainability & Society (JESS). Furthermore, the project will ensure that all BioEnergyTrain materials are as widely available as possible through a university platform hosted by the Austrian partner TU Graz. This platform will continue use and update materials after the life-time of the project.
